How to treat cervical hypertrophy?

Patient's question:

Hello, how is cervical hypertrophy treated? Under what circumstances does it lead to cervical hypertrophy? Does it require surgery? Where is the best place to have the surgery? What are the causes of cervical hypertrophy?

Doctor's answer:

How is cervical hypertrophy treated? The causes of cervical hypertrophy include:
(1) Chronic inflammation and long-term stimulation, which cause congestion and edema of the cervix, leading to fibrosis of the cervical glands and stroma, resulting in varying degrees of cervical hypertrophy.
(2) Mucus retention may occur in the deep part of the cervical glands, forming cysts of varying sizes, which can cause the cervix to become enlarged. The hypertrophied cervix may be 2 to 4 times larger than a normal cervix. The surface of the cervix can be smooth or may have erosion. The texture of the cervix is generally hard, which is due to fibrosis of the fibrous connective tissue.
Cervical hypertrophy usually does not require treatment. If erosion is present, cervical erosion can be treated. It is essential to complete the prescribed treatment course as directed by the doctor. For most patients, with proper medication, test results will show negative after a few days. However, this does not necessarily mean the condition has been cured.
