Features: The practice and theoretical research of social security systems in China and other countries were one of the driving forces behind the writing of this book. Another driving force was to advance the construction of the social security discipline and the development of the social security cause. This is the main purpose of writing this book. First, the establishment and development of a social security discipline as an independent field require a relatively mature introductory textbook on social security. In the process of teaching for many years, we found that some introductory textbooks on social security in China mainly focus on social insurance and various insurance types. Meanwhile, social insurance, which primarily studies various insurance types, is a core course for the Labor and Social Security major. Additionally, many universities offer these insurance types as compulsory or elective courses. As a result, there is inevitably repetition in the content of the textbooks. Therefore, we believe it is necessary to rewrite an introductory textbook tailored to the curriculum of the Labor and Social Security major. Although China's social security cause has achieved certain development, it still requires in-depth theoretical research and the summarization of practical experience. Only in this way can we ensure that the development of China's social security cause takes a more direct path. During the writing process, we have incorporated some new achievements in social security theoretical research to some extent and strive to reflect the latest developments in social security reforms both domestically and internationally.
