Features: The meticulous and vibrant painting "Eighty-Seven Immortals Scroll" is a classic work by Ren Shuying. For this, Beijing Sanxi Tang has specially launched a simulated handscroll. Considering the large size of the original, it has been proportionally reduced for easier appreciation. The core size of the painting is 210×centimeters, meticulously mounted by renowned craftsmen and paired with a bamboo-carved painting box. This makes it not only an elegant gift for friends both domestically and internationally but also suitable for display in halls and ordinary households.
"The Eighty-Seven Immortals Scroll" is a precious white-line painting from the Tang Dynasty (author unknown) in China, depicting the gathering of Taoist immortals paying homage to the Primordial Celestial Lord. The figures in the procession can be categorized into four types: the two emperors with halos (the Eastern and Southern Emperors), twelve male immortals (including the Emperor of Fusang with half a halo), eight armored divine warriors, and sixty-seven female child immortals (Golden Boys and Jade Girls). The figures in the procession are depicted in accordance with certain Taoist rituals. The painter strives to capture the individual characteristics of the gods, such as the dignified and subtly smiling expression of Donghua Jun, the graceful and expressive features of the female immortals, and their lively and lifelike gaze. The author's flowing lines depict the dense and overlapping folds of clothing, the head ornaments of the emperors and immortals, their ceremonial attire, and the varied poses and movements of the female immortals. The different expressions, actions, and elements such as skirts, banners, and floral branches are harmoniously unified in a solemn yet joyful and graceful melody. The composition is grand and magnificent, with a rigorous structure, dynamic yet elegant lines, and subtle variations, fully embodying the stylistic features of the "Wu-style" with fluttering banners and flowing skirts.
Originally, this scroll was a preparatory drawing for a mural and was not colored, which has been a source of regret for many. Ren Shuying, a renowned contemporary meticulous and vibrant figure painter and vice president of the Beijing Meticulous and Vibrant Painting Association, spent years meticulously creating a colored enlargement of the original. This has allowed the national treasure to regain its splendor, serving not only as a guide for future generations but also as a remarkable tale in the world of art.
