Features: The China Association of Economics Graduates in the U.S. held an international symposium on "Urbanization: Challenges and Countermeasures for China's Development in the 21st Century" in Xiamen, Fujian, in June 2001 and published a monograph on China's urbanization issues in 2002. This book is the second monograph based on that symposium, focusing on field research and case studies. A delegation of 4-6 members from our association visited factories, rural areas, commodity markets, and municipal construction sites in eight cities across Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hainan, and Inner Mongolia from June 18 to July 7, 2002, and held discussions and exchanges with local governments at various levels, experts, and academic institutions. This book is the result of us stepping out of our offices and engaging with society, combining theory with China's economic practices. The China Association of Economics Graduates in the U.S. is a non-profit academic organization established on May 26, 1985, in New York. The association currently has over 500 members from universities, international organizations, companies, financial institutions, and government departments in the U.S., Canada, Asia, Europe, and other regions. Since its establishment, the association's rigorous research style and substantial academic achievements have made it the authoritative academic organization for studying economic issues overseas.
