Patient's question:
Female, 20 years old. My daughter has no sexual life, and I am also very careful about her hygiene. However, recently the young girl always feels itchy in her external genital area, and her studies have been affected. She is very distressed. Please ask: Can an ovarian cyst be relieved as a good solution?Doctor's answer:
Ovarian cysts can be physiological (meaning they are normal fluctuations in the menstrual cycle that can naturally disappear) or pathological (formed due to disease). Physiological cysts do not require surgery, while pathological cysts often need surgery to confirm the diagnosis and provide additional treatment. For women of childbearing age, after discovering an ovarian cyst, the next course of action depends on the nature of the cyst. Ultrasound results are very helpful for diagnosis. If MRI indicates that the cyst is anechoic (without echoes) and non-segmented, it is advisable to wait and see for 3 months. After 3 months, a repeat MRI should be performed. If the cyst still exists, surgery should be considered. For other types of cysts, in most cases, they are pathological and surgery is necessary to confirm the diagnosis.
