Features: The beneficial use of reservoirs and flood control are a pair of sharp contradictions. If the flood control limit water level during the flood season is too high, it benefits beneficial use but hinders flood control; conversely, it benefits flood control but hinders beneficial use. To resolve this contradiction, this book establishes the theory and methods for calculating design rainfall based on the principles of design rainfall process lines, and illustrates the calculation process in detail through examples. To determine the design flood of a basin based on its design rainfall, the theory and methods for basin runoff generation and collection are systematically studied, thereby providing staged design floods. To scientifically determine the flood limit water level, the "peak and volume comprehensive control method" for reservoir regulation is proposed, and based on this, staged flood limit water levels and flood limit water level process lines are determined. After analyzing the characteristics of rainfall variation, the concept, theory, and determination methods of dynamic design rainfall and dynamic flood limit water level process lines are proposed for the first time in China and internationally. To address the practical application of dynamic flood limit water level process lines, systematic research is conducted on the extension of multiple sequences, and corresponding extension theories and methods are proposed. Finally, the issues of pre-storing and pre-discharging in reservoirs are studied. With the rapid economic and social development, the private ownership of water resources in northern China has become a bottleneck restricting economic and social progress. Under the premise of ensuring the flood safety of reservoirs, how to improve beneficial use efficiency is an important way to address water scarcity. This book is written to explore how to better resolve the contradiction between reservoir beneficial use and flood control, maximize the economic benefits of reservoirs, and alleviate the water crisis. This book can be used by technical and managerial personnel engaged in water conservancy calculation, and can also serve as a textbook for undergraduate and above students majoring in water conservancy and hydropower or related fields.
