Features: Cambridge English for Young Learners (CEYL) is an English learning environment designed by the University of Cambridge ESOL for children and adolescents who are non-native English speakers. Since 1996, the China Education and Research Institute (CERI) under the Ministry of Education and the British Council have introduced this teaching and examination program. China has held two annual exams for this learning system. The exam is divided into three levels: Starters, Movers, and Flyers. The examination covers listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Cambridge English for Young Learners has opened up a new world for Chinese primary and secondary school students and children to learn authentic English from listening, reading, writing, and speaking. However, due to the inconsistency between the exam format and scope and the teaching materials, coupled with the lack of post-class exercises and corresponding training in the materials, students and parents often feel unfamiliar with the exam content and format, which affects their performance.
To address this situation, the author, based on their own experience and insights in English teaching, particularly in teaching Chinese children English, has meticulously compiled this set of practice tests. The book organically combines the language points, vocabulary, and communicative skills required by the teaching syllabus with the exam format, while also expanding and deepening the teaching materials as required by the syllabus. Each level of the Cambridge English for Young Learners teaching system includes two textbooks with a large vocabulary, but not all words are tested. The exam vocabulary for each level is as follows: 380 words for Level 1, 292 words for Level 2, and 422 words for Level 3. To avoid overwhelming students with memory load, the author arranges the exam vocabulary into units according to the syllabus requirements. The questions in this book are designed with children's thinking in mind, combining knowledge and fun, making it suitable not only for students taking the Cambridge English for Young Learners exam but also for primary and secondary school students as reinforcement practice.
