Features: Colleagues from Shandong Province have written a great book titled "New Curriculum Concepts and Teaching Practices in High School English." Comrade Hongde, the editor-in-chief, showed me the manuscript, allowing me to preview it in advance. I am deeply grateful. This book is divided into three parts: The Concept Part, The Exploration Part, and The Case Part. Each part is concise and to the point, introducing or interpreting the main concepts of the National English Curriculum Standards. The second part delves into four topics—new curriculum teaching design, implementation, evaluation, and teacher professional development—conducting in-depth exploration and research based on the new curriculum standards, as well as the insights and experiences gained by teachers and researchers in their work. The third part is the Case Part, which provides numerous cases on various aspects such as language knowledge and skill teaching, unit-based teaching, and teaching evaluation. I thoroughly read the entire book. The first and second parts further elaborate and expand on many concepts covered by the high school curriculum standards, benefiting me greatly. What I love most is the numerous cases provided in the third part. These cases come from the teaching practices of frontline teachers and have been refined, processed, and deepened by the author. They are so relatable, vivid, practical, comprehensive, and typical. As a participant in the development of the English curriculum standards, I must admit that due to the tight schedule, we were unable to provide enough cases for teachers in the standards. The existing cases can only be considered examples of cases. However, this book's third part largely makes up for this shortcoming in the standards. For this reason, I take this opportunity to write a preface for the book at Comrade Hongde's request and extend my sincere gratitude to the authors—numerous colleagues from Shandong Province.
