Publishing Date: 1999-12-01
Features: This book is a comprehensive collection of Tang and Five Dynasties quci ci, aiming to gather scattered and lost works, preserving both the poems and their authors. Even fragmented verses are included. The book is divided into two parts: the Main Collection and the Supplementary Collection. The Main Collection primarily includes quci ci composed based on tunes, and it determines quci ci according to the following two principles: 1. Works found in compiled and separate collections of quci ci by Tang, Five Dynasties, and Song dynasty compilers; 2. Works mentioned in Tang, Five Dynasties, and Song dynasty texts that provide information about their creation, singing, or are explicitly identified as quci ci. The Supplementary Collection mainly includes: 1. Works that are debated as belonging to poetry or quci ci by Tang and Song dynasty authors; 2. Works recorded in Ming and Qing dynasty quci ci selections, comprehensive collections, quci ci tunes, and discussions on quci ci that can be traced back to original poems later adapted into quci ci with assigned titles, as well as those originally identified as yuefu or juju but modified by Ming and Qing dynasty authors with quci ci tunes; 3. Works recorded in Ming and Qing dynasty quci ci texts that are not found in Tang and Song dynasty quci ci texts and are of the same length and structure as other quci ci by Tang and Song dynasty authors; 4. Works with the same tune names, word counts, and sentence structures as those in the Main Collection but not recorded in Tang and Song dynasty quci ci texts and whose classification as poetry or quci ci is unclear.
