How to treat left fallopian tube cyst?

Patient's question:

Four years ago, I was diagnosed with a cyst in the left fallopian tube, while the right one is normal. I have been unable to conceive so far. What should I do about the cyst in my left fallopian tube?

Doctor's answer:

The causes of fallopian tube and ovary cysts are often due to acute dilation. Inflammation causes adhesions between the fimbriae and isthmus of the fallopian tubes, preventing inflammatory secretions from being expelled, which accumulate to form fallopian tube abscesses. Simple ovarian abscesses are relatively rare. Ovarian abscesses are also often caused by acute fallopian tube inflammation. If acute fallopian tube inflammation occurs again without isolation of the fimbriae, the purulent secretions can flow from the fimbriae to the pelvic cavity, leading to widespread adhesions of pelvic organs. The fallopian tubes and ovaries become trapped within, and over time, they gradually transform into fallopian tube and ovary cysts. Smaller fallopian tube cysts can be monitored periodically with careful observation.
