Satirical essays, which are relatively weak in lyricism and literary charm but focus more on reasoning and debate, are excluded. Lu Xun's photographs and manuscripts are provided by Zhou Haiying. To make this book the most accurate among various versions of Lu Xun's prose, it is compiled and edited by Jin Yinming, an expert from the Lu Xun Museum. In addition to ensuring comprehensive inclusion, the compiler also uses the Complete Works of Lu Xun, edited by the Lu Xun Memorial Committee in 1938 and published by Shanghai Fusha, as the base text. By cross-referencing Lu Xun's existing manuscripts and other versions, some errors are corrected, and the best choices are adopted. The appendix includes Lu Xun's writings on prose, as well as texts on the prose collections Morning Glories Plucked at Dusk and Wild Grass. Additionally, other prose selected from Lu Xun's essays, such as masterpieces, satirical essays, documentary prose, nostalgic prose, letters, diary prose, prefaces and postfaces, and lecture prose, are included. Authentic satirical essays, which are relatively weak in lyricism and literary charm but focus more on reasoning and debate, are excluded.
