Patient's question:
At first, I didn't feel anything uncomfortable, but recently, during intimacy with my husband, I've found it very dry, and I've also been constantly feeling itchy externally. After a check-up, they said it's leukoplakia of the vulva. I'm not very familiar with this condition. Could you please tell me how to treat leukoplakia of the vulva effectively?Doctor's answer:
Vulvar leukoplakia refers to localized or diffuse white patches on the skin of the female genital area, which can spread to the inner thighs, perineum, and anus but rarely affect the urethral orifice and vestibule. Symptoms include itching in the genital area, dry skin, thickening and whitening, loss of elasticity, and even swelling, rupture, pain, and burning sensation.Recommendations:
1. Medication Treatment: After washing the vulva with a Ph4 weak acid female care solution, topical hormone medications, local anesthetic anaerobic rods, and traditional Chinese medicine treatments can be applied.
2. Physical Therapy: Microwave therapy, carbon dioxide laser, helium-neon laser, BOM light, high-frequency electric knife, local electrocautery, and local cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen.
3. Surgical Treatment: Simple vulvectomy and split-thickness skin grafting vulvectomy.
