Features: Today, the development of surgical clinical technology is advancing rapidly, with new diagnostic and treatment devices emerging continuously. The progress in imaging examinations and treatment methods has also provided new spaces for the development of surgery. In particular, in recent years, minimally invasive techniques have been rapidly adopted in various surgical fields, changing traditional surgical methods in some aspects. With the use of laparoscopic technology, people can now perform cholecystectomies, subtotal gastrectomies, choledocholithotomy, and procedures such as intestinal resection and splenectomy without the need for large incisions. Clinicians from the Department of Surgery at the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University have not only pioneered the use of laparoscopic techniques for donor nephrectomy in kidney transplantation but have also successfully introduced new technologies such as living donor liver transplantation, living donor kidney transplantation, artificial vessel replacement of the celiac artery, and coronary artery bypass grafting, all achieving good results. The development of modern surgical technology urgently requires systematic and standardized criteria for the diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases. In light of this, under the organization of Dean Huang Jun, we have compiled this book, Practical Guidelines for Surgical Diagnosis and Treatment. The primary purpose of this book is to train middle-aged and young surgeons, providing them with a scientific, standardized, authoritative, and clinically practical reference that reflects the latest advancements in contemporary surgery. This book is part of the Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines Series and serves as its surgical volume. Unlike textbooks or reference books, it emphasizes standardization and practicality. The participating experts, combining their rich clinical experience and unique academic insights, have attempted to establish diagnostic and treatment standards for many diseases. The entire book aims to be concise, practical, well-organized, and clear in its viewpoints, focusing on the diagnostic patterns and treatment methods of diseases rather than detailed descriptions of their pathogenesis or pathophysiology. The diagnostic and treatment standards proposed in this book are based on internationally recognized practices. When no unified standards exist, the conventional practices developed through long-term clinical experience at our hospital (Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University) are used as guidelines, striving to provide clinicians with a standardized approach to the diagnosis, surgical indications, surgical methods, preoperative and postoperative management of surgical diseases. In the specific writing process of this book, many chapters were finalized after collective discussions and review by senior experts, making it a crystallization of collective wisdom. Among the over 80 surgeons who participated in compiling this book are esteemed senior experts and middle-aged and young clinical leaders, including nearly 10 doctoral supervisors and more than 20 master supervisors. They have long been engaged in clinical medical practice and teaching and research, possessing extensive clinical experience and a high level of theoretical expertise. Many of them have studied abroad and have achieved certain results in applying many international new technologies to clinical work. Therefore, I believe they represent advanced medical standards.
