Features: Scotland Yard is the British counterintelligence and counterterrorism agency, named after its establishment on the ruins of a royal palace in Scotland. Directly controlled by the British Cabinet, it possesses the authority to arrest, interrogate, and prosecute. Headquartered on the top floor of Scotland Yard on Victoria Street in London. Spy activity has long coexisted with humanity and is often referred to as the "second oldest profession." It is the primary means by which ruling groups maintain their power and resist real or perceived domestic and foreign threats and adversaries. Although spy activity has never played a decisive role in human history—neither can it replace policy nor influence political and military decisions—it has drawn attention due to its secrecy and mystique, and its influence on international relations continues to grow—Oleg Kaltus, Soviet KGB Major General.
This is a group of mysterious people. They are everywhere, infiltrating every corner. Victories cannot be proclaimed, and failures cannot be explained. —Dusko Popov, one of the inspirations for James Bond, a British double agent.
British intelligence agencies have always been shrouded in mystery, with a long history and fine division of labor. Their human intelligence, particularly double-agent operations, has been extremely successful, and their counterintelligence work is also outstanding. Scotland Yard, or more accurately, the Metropolitan Police Special Police Service, is an alias for the headquarters of the London Metropolitan Police. It was initially named after its establishment on the ruins of a royal palace in Scotland but later moved to a new headquarters on the Thames Embankment, also known as New Scotland Yard. In reality, it is directly controlled by the British Cabinet and is a British counterintelligence and counterterrorism agency with the authority to arrest, interrogate, and prosecute.
Scotland Yard, a police force established in London under the 1829 Act, was founded in 1883 to combat the Fenian Movement in London with the Irish Special Police Division or London Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Department's Political Section, nominally under Scotland Yard's leadership but actually directly controlled by the British Cabinet as one of the country's counterintelligence and counterterrorism agencies. Its headquarters are on the top floor of Scotland Yard on Victoria Street in London. It also has some office facilities around London.
Scotland Yard has four branches: the Port Department, responsible for monitoring ports and airports; the Administrative Department, responsible for administrative and logistical work; the Operations Department, responsible for the protection of important figures; and the Special Police Training Center, responsible for recruiting, vetting, and training special police. It has 14 subordinate mobile units nationwide. There are 1,550 full-time police officers in total, with 550 stationed at headquarters and the remaining 1,000 distributed across the country. Its budget is estimated at $50 million.
