What is the normal survival rate of sperm?

Patient's question:

After ejaculation, the sperm seemed to be slightly greenish. I just noticed today that it's greenish after ejaculation, as it was always light gray before. Could it be due to excessive sexual activity?

Doctor's answer:

Within one hour after ejaculation, a survival rate of 60%-70% or higher is normal. If the sperm survival rate is below 50%, it is considered abnormal and is also referred to as asthenozoospermia. Dead sperm syndrome refers to sperm that have no motility at all. Normal semen is viscous, milky white, and contains grayish-white clumps. Approximately 30 minutes later, the clumps liquefy on their own, turning into a translucent, cloudy, and thin viscous fluid.
