What are the symptoms of uterine prolapse

Patient's question:

I am 23 years old, female, and have always experienced menstrual cramps and lower back pain. I previously thought it was just irregular periods, but I was surprised to find out after a thorough medical examination that it is uterine prolapse, and it's quite severe. What exactly is uterine prolapse?

Doctor's answer:

Uterine prolapse refers to the descent of the uterus from its normal position along the vagina, with the external os of the cervix dropping below the level of the ischial spines. This condition is then termed uterine prolapse. In clinical diagnosis, the degree of curvature varies, and we generally classify it into three degrees. The second degree means that the external os of the cervix has risen to the level of the ischial spines but has not weakened to the point where it is visible externally. In other words, we cannot immediately see the cervix or uterus from the outside. This falls under the first degree, which is relatively mild.
