Features: This book is a monograph on the development history of contemporary lyric art in China. The author traces the evolution of lyric art in the mainland of China from the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949 to the end of 1999, covering half a century. With as detailed and comprehensive materials and examples as possible, it outlines the trajectory of lyric art under the political, economic, and cultural ecological environments of different historical periods. The author also strives to explore the unique development laws of lyric art by examining some major lyric phenomena. The book offers a reasonable analysis and discussion of representative lyricists from three generations—old, middle-aged, and young—who have been active in China's contemporary lyric scene over the past 50 years, as well as their significant works, creative paths, artistic characteristics, and contributions to lyric art. It covers hundreds of lyricists, with numerous outstanding pieces throughout. Renowned contemporary lyricist master, Qiao Yu, the Chairman of the China Music Literature Society, has reviewed the manuscript of this over 400,000-word book multiple times, offering valuable suggestions. After the book was completed, he generously wrote an exquisite preface for it. In today's era of unprecedented prosperity in lyric writing and diversification in its dissemination methods, this book is undoubtedly a rare feast for lyricists, songwriters, students of art academies, as well as poetry and music enthusiasts.
