Can I get pregnant after having surgery for an ectopic pregnancy?

Patient's question:

Female, 27 years old. I am not married, but I found out I was pregnant. What's worse is that a hospital check revealed it was an ectopic pregnancy. I didn't plan on having this child anyway, but now the check shows it's an ectopic pregnancy. I've heard that ectopic pregnancies can affect future fertility and can even be fatal. I'm really scared. Please ask: Can I still get pregnant after having surgery for an ectopic pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

Because of the surgical treatment for ectopic pregnancy, the affected fallopian tube should have been removed. If your other fallopian tube is normal, you can still conceive normally. It is recommended to undergo routine fallopian tube examinations after surgery to confirm whether the other fallopian tube is patent. Different causes lead to different symptoms, and patients need to seek systematic and standardized examinations in reputable tertiary hospitals as soon as possible based on their specific conditions to receive symptomatic treatment. Additionally, patients should maintain regular routines, take precautions against cold and keep warm, eat light and soft foods, ensure good ventilation, and drink plenty of hot water daily.
