Patient's question:
38-year-old female has been feeling weak all over and lacking energy lately. I'm very concerned. Please ask: what effect does uterine fibroids have on pregnancy?Doctor's answer:
Generally speaking, if uterine fibroids are less than 4 cm in diameter, patients with uterine fibroids can get pregnant early. However, if the fibroids grow to a diameter below 4 cm before early pregnancy and continue to grow during pregnancy, the chances of further degeneration and causing miscarriage or premature birth increase. Alternatively, if the fibroid diameter is less than 4 cm but the growth location is unfavorable, such as within the uterine cavity, on the cervix, or affecting the fallopian tubes and leading to infertility, it is recommended that patients undergo surgery to remove the fibroid before getting pregnant.
