Do you need effective treatment for mild cervical erosion?

Patient's question:

Female, 28 years old, my menstrual cycle has always been quite irregular. I never took it seriously before, but recently I've noticed an increase in white discharge with a foul odor. I went to the hospital for a check-up, and they said it was cervical erosion. Is mild cervical erosion something that needs treatment?

Doctor's answer:

Mild cervical erosion generally does not require treatment. If there are issues with leukorrhea, treatment can be focused on that. A careful examination of leukorrhea typically shows a cleanliness level of three, and it may be possible to use vaginal pessary treatment to see if it improves. Vaginitis does not affect the menstrual cycle. As for the causes of lower back pain, there are many possibilities, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, herniated discs, or lumbar muscle strain.
To diagnose lower back pain and vaginitis, it is generally not the case that vaginitis leads to pelvic inflammatory disease. The examination for pelvic inflammatory disease requires a gynecological examination, where one hand is placed inside the vagina and the other hand gently presses the lower abdomen to check for tenderness. The occurrence of pelvic inflammatory disease is mostly associated with a history of miscarriage or uterine surgery. The severity can only be determined after treatment.
