Do I need treatment for moderate cervical erosion?

Patient's question:

Female, 37 years old, my menstrual cycle has always been quite irregular. I never took it seriously before, but recently I've noticed that my vaginal discharge has been increasing continuously, and there's also a foul odor. I went to the hospital for a check-up, and they said it was cervical erosion. Is moderate cervical erosion something that needs to be treated?

Doctor's answer:

Cervical erosion is a normal physiological phenomenon of cervical columnar epithelial metaplasia. It does not require treatment if it is normal. However, severe cervical erosion does require treatment. If there is an increase in leukorrhea, discoloration, and a bad odor, it indicates cervical inflammation. Follow the doctor's advice for medication. Different causes lead to different symptoms, and patients need to go to a formal Grade III-A hospital for systematic and standardized examinations as soon as possible to receive symptomatic treatment. Additionally, patients should maintain a regular schedule, take precautions against cold and keep warm, eat light and soft foods, ensure good ventilation, and drink plenty of hot water.
