Is the growth of cervical polyps caused by inflammation in the cervix?

Patient's question:

Female, 30 years old, my menstrual cycle has always been quite irregular. I never took it seriously before, but recently I've noticed an increase in white discharge with a foul odor. I went to the hospital for a check-up, and they said it was cervical erosion. Is cervical polyp caused by inflammation of the cervix?

Doctor's answer:

Cervical polyps are not unrelated to inflammation. Erosion can be infectious or non-infectious pseudo-erosion. Most erosions caused by inflammation are severe infections leading to local erosion. Inflammation does not necessarily cause erosion; this is not an equivalent relationship. If there is a problem, it can be addressed. If no abnormalities are found, the necessity of intervention is not great. That's my view. You can then go to another hospital for a re-examination to see. Different causes lead to different symptoms. Patients need to go to regular, top-tier hospitals for systematic and standardized examinations based on their own conditions as soon as possible to receive symptomatic treatment. Additionally, patients should maintain regular routines, take precautions against cold and cold exposure, eat light and soft foods in daily diet, keep the environment well-ventilated, and drink plenty of hot water.
