What are the treatment methods for uterine polyps?

Patient's question:

I am 24 years old, female. Recently, my menstrual flow has been very heavy, and I have also experienced abdominal pain again. The doctor diagnosed it as uterine polyps. Please ask what are the treatment methods for uterine polyps.

Doctor's answer:

Endometrial polyps should be surgically removed as soon as they are diagnosed. Hospitalization is generally not required after the surgery, and recovery typically takes about a month. Cervical polyps are caused by inflammatory stimulation and are usually benign. They should undergo polypectomy (a minor surgery). Cervical polypectomy is relatively simple, quick, and painless. Polyps of any size removed must undergo pathological examination, as cervical polyps have a 0.2% to 0.4% risk of malignant transformation. Although the risk is low, it should not be overlooked due to negligence. Additionally, even after the polyp is removed, the inflammation in the cervix may not be completely eliminated. Therefore, patients need to follow up regularly, as polyps may recur. Daily routines should include maintaining a regular schedule, keeping warm, eating light and soft foods, ensuring good ventilation, and drinking plenty of warm water to prevent the condition from recurring.
