Vaginal itching with slight pain, how to treat

Patient's question:

Hello, doctor, I have been experiencing abnormal white discharge recently, along with external itching. Could you please advise on how to treat mild pain when wiping the external itching?

Doctor's answer:

There are many reasons for vulvar itching, such as vulvovaginal inflammation, secretory irritation, medication factors, poor quality sanitary pads, and poor breathability, which can irritate the vulvar skin. It is best to get a routine vaginal discharge test to confirm if there is any gynecological inflammation. Avoid using feminine washes for the vulva; lukewarm water is sufficient. Use a separate basin for vulvar washing, one for each person, to maintain cleanliness. Choose sanitary pads with good breathability and avoid using potassium permanganate, as it can easily irritate the skin. Change underwear daily, boil and dry them in the sun. Personal hygiene is very important.
