Should I be treated for uterine polyps?

Patient's question:

I am a 28-year-old woman who has been sick for a long time, but it wasn't until a checkup that I discovered this condition. Please ask: Should I treat uterine polyps?

Doctor's answer:

According to the size, location, morphology of the polyps, and the patient's age, different treatments are adopted.
1. For larger pedunculated polyps, which can be encountered or palpated in the lower uterine segment, the polyps can be removed by dilating the cervix, followed by cervical and uterine scraping to remove the remaining polyps and send them for pathological examination.
2. For small focal or diffuse polyps, a D&C (dilation and curettage) is performed, with attention to thorough scraping, especially at the fundus and cornual areas of the uterus.
3. After uterine surgery, anti-infection treatment should be administered. Clinical diagnosis may involve oral antibiotics or intravenous administration.
4. For patients with significant bleeding symptoms that do not respond to the above treatments or frequently recur, hysterectomy should be considered.
