The book explores the basic conditions and main characteristics of typical cultures during the stages of origin, formation, development, and integration of the Ba-Shu civilization, as well as their relationships with surrounding cultures such as the Central Plains. It discusses the status and contributions of the Ba-Shu culture to Chinese civilization, illustrating from one perspective how the multi-source, unified ancient Chinese civilization was formed through the integration of numerous early civilizations.
