Chapter 4, "The Erlitou Culture and the Xia Culture," argues that Erlitou Culture is the Xia Culture and analyzes the formation process of the state power of the Xia Dynasty as reflected in this culture. Chapters 5 and 6 utilize written records to discuss the origins of the Xia people and the establishment, rise, and fall of the Xia Dynasty's state power.
