Features: For ease of learning, we have appropriately added tonal and some chord function notations in the pieces. Regarding the meanings of these notations, please refer to the explanations in [Appendix I]. For those that are difficult to explain solely through the notations, we will provide a brief introduction to the key points of classical harmony theory, as well as the main characteristics of the harmonic language of this work, in the [Brief Overview of Major and Minor Functional Harmony Thinking] and [Brief Overview of the Harmonic Language and Methods of the Pieces in This Book]. The entire book is divided into two volumes. The first volume mainly selects representative classical pieces within the traditional harmonic range, roughly following the teaching order of harmony, such as major and minor chords, various altered chords, modulations, and so on. The second volume selects popular songs as well as a small number of pieces with features of 20th-century harmonic language. As music scholars have long pointed out: popular music basically involves the repetitive use of musical vocabulary that classical composers have already employed. Even so, readers can still learn how modern popular music actually applies classical harmony.
