Features: This book adopts a global historical perspective to write about modern world history, striving to "examine our planet as a whole." It positions the history of modern world history from the high perspective of the development of human civilization, analyzing the structural patterns and operational laws of the modern world from all angles, and avoids the flaw of patching together world history from national histories. Therefore, the book can be roughly positioned in history as follows:
First, modern world history is the history of the world moving from fragmentation to integration, and this integration movement is the result of the emergence of capitalist production methods.
Second, the development of capitalism is a long historical process, and modern world history is only the early stage of this process.
Third, modern national liberation movements, the struggles of domestic working classes against the exploitation of their own bourgeoisie, the struggles of the people for democratic rights and improved economic conditions, the international communist movement, capitalist social reform movements, and the struggles of small and emerging nations against the hegemonic power of European great powers all run through the history of modern world history. They present a dynamic interplay of opposition and unity with the process of capitalist integration, becoming one of the essential content and red lines in the development of modern world history.
Fourth, the development of modern world history is primarily manifested in the evolution of the international relations landscape.
