Features: This textbook is primarily aimed at current and future elementary and secondary school music teachers, as well as individuals who have received elementary or secondary music education and are preparing to pursue careers in music performance, musicological analysis, composition, and teaching. We are fully aware that "no one would waste more time on harmonic knowledge that is not absolutely necessary for them." Therefore, the guiding principle behind the writing of this harmony textbook is centered on the two points of "practicality" and "conciseness." "Practicality" means starting from the actual needs of the target readership and focusing on teaching the fundamental knowledge and skills of polyphonic writing and analysis. In addition to the traditional content on major and minor modes, including chord voicing and tonal transformation, we have added Chapter 9—Harmonic Configuration for Pentatonic Melodies and Chapter 10—Arranging Figurative Piano Accompaniments. "Conciseness" means being concise and to the point, avoiding historical, stylistic, and diverse explorations of harmonic techniques. Instead, it gets straight to the core of the subject matter.
