Features: Hospital classification management is a major reform in China's hospital management system, representing a self-improvement of the current hospital management framework and a significant step in deepening healthcare reform. Through the gradual implementation of this management system, it will promote the establishment and refinement of a three-tier medical prevention and healthcare network, adjust the overall structure of the healthcare system, enhance overall efficiency, and contribute to achieving the goal of "Health for All by the Year 2000." This marks a new phase in the management of hospital work in China. In recent years, hospital classification management has been gradually adopted across the country. Experiences from pilot hospitals have shown that to achieve and maintain high standards, hospitals must focus on internal development. The "Three Basics" and "Three Rigorously" are a concise summary of scientific and strict hospital management, reflecting the fundamental principles of medical practice. The clinical "Three Basics" training is not only a basic approach to improving the professional quality of healthcare workers and a crucial element in enhancing medical quality but also a core component of hospital classification management. Currently, China lacks systematic training materials for the "Three Basics." To address this gap, Hunan Medical University has undertaken a meaningful initiative. The two affiliated hospitals of the university have, after two years of effort, both become the first Class A Tertiary Hospitals in Hunan Province. They have accumulated relatively successful experiences in organizing "Three Basics" training. They assembled a large team of experts and, over the course of more than a year, compiled this series, "Clinical 'Three Basics' Training for Medicine." The content is comprehensive and systematic, with difficulty levels suitable for most users, and it is also very user-friendly, making it a practical reference for "Three Basics" training.
The Department of Medical Administration has long envisioned the need for a textbook to promote "Three Basics" training nationwide, responding to requests and suggestions from many colleagues. At this juncture, Hunan Medical University has already undertaken this task. Leaders from the Department of Medical Administration have reviewed the compilation process and the outline and main content of the book from a management perspective. They recognize that Hunan Medical University is one of China's top medical institutions and that the book meets the current needs of hospital classification management and evaluation while also serving as a guide for ongoing education, advanced training, and "Three Basics" training and assessment for medical students in secondary and higher medical schools.
After the Ministry of Health issued the "Notice on the Implementation of Hospital Classification Management" in 1989, the construction of hospital classification management has been widely promoted in hospitals at all levels across the country, and clinical "Three Basics" training has gained significant attention. In light of this, our university organized over 100 experts in 1992 and, over the course of more than a year, wrote this series, "Clinical 'Three Basics' Training (Physician Edition, Nurse Edition, Medical Technology Edition)," published by Hunan Science and Technology Press. The Ministry of Health's Department of Medical Administration placed great importance on this series, reviewed the entire book, and recommended it to hospitals at all levels nationwide. Since its publication, the book has been widely welcomed by hospitals across the country, with 12 reprints and a cumulative distribution of over 360,000 sets. It has been recognized as a top-selling science and technology book in China. In the eyes of healthcare workers, it has become a reference book for hospital classification management construction.
Currently, hospital classification management evaluations across the country have entered their second cycle. Over time, the field of medicine has seen numerous changes, with new knowledge, technologies, and theories constantly emerging. The formats of "Three Basics" examination questions have also been improved. Therefore, our university has decided to comprehensively revise this series to meet the needs of hospital classification management construction. In the revision, we have retained all content that aligns with the requirements of hospital classification management while adding new material. The question-and-answer section continues to adopt a question-answer, statement, and list-explanation format, while the self-assessment section has removed the K-type questions that have largely fallen out of use in recent years. We have added, deleted, and modified true-or-false and fill-in-the-blank questions. We have expanded the A-type questions and added B, C, and X-type questions.
