Features: The National English Test Band 8 (NET Band 8) for English Majors is a test representing the highest level of English proficiency in China, requiring candidates to possess advanced skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation. The new edition of the "Express Pass" series retains the original overall framework, including five specialized practice books (English-Chinese translation, Chinese-English translation, English writing, listening, and reading) and one comprehensive simulation practice book. Among them, the listening book and the comprehensive book include audio materials. "Express Pass" is primarily designed for third and fourth-year English majors in universities. However, it is also highly beneficial for a broad readership with intermediate to advanced English proficiency, especially for senior non-English major students in universities who have passed the College English Test Band 6 (CET-6) and young scholars who have entered the workforce after graduation, as it helps them further improve their English skills. This series is also suitable for TOEFL, GRE, and GMAT candidates for self-study and improvement. This book is part of the "Express Pass" series, a supplementary guide for the National English Test Band 8 for English Majors. This textbook is an introductory course on Chinese-English translation, primarily aimed at senior English majors in universities. It is also suitable for general readers with a certain foundation in English who wish to gain preliminary Chinese-English translation skills through more formal training and lay a foundation for further improvement. The direct goal of this textbook is to meet the requirements of the Chinese-English translation section in the English Band 8 exam. This textbook attempts to embody the following features: 1. Emphasizing key principles, primarily introducing some strategic basic principles and their underlying principles in Chinese-English translation; 2. Highlighting discourse, with two approaches: (1) In explanations, it emphasizes the importance of solving local problems within the context of the overall discourse; (2) All practice materials are short passages, and the illustrative sentences used in explanations are mostly derived from these passages, minimizing the use of isolated sentences out of context. 3. The number of words in each Chinese original is indicated to facilitate readers in practicing translation speed. The focus of timed and untimed exercises is slightly different: the former emphasizes both quality and speed improvement, while the latter focuses on meticulous refinement and quality enhancement. These two methods can also be combined, i.e., first timed, then revision. 4. The explanations for each exercise are comprehensive, covering both the difficulties of the exercise itself and the key points of relevant chapters.
