Features: In the late 1970s, Mr. Yao Dehuai, then chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese Language Society and a professor at the University of Hong Kong, often corresponded with me and discussed Chinese language issues. He excerpted and refined my remarks, turning them into short essays, which were published in the academic journal Doushou of Hong Kong's cultural and academic circles. Later, they were also published in other publications such as Chinese Language Magazine of the Hong Kong Chinese Language Society, under columns like "Overseas Literary Talks" and "Random Notes on Language." From 1976 to 1982, they were serialized for a total of seven years.
