Features: In the winter of 1946 or 1947, a Bedouin shepherd was searching for a lost sheep in the Jordan Desert when he threw a stone into a cave and heard it clink against pottery. Soon, he brought some friends back. Inside the cave, they discovered seven nearly complete scrolls of parchment stored in ceramic jars. Another difference between the modern Bible and the Dead Sea Scrolls is that the articles in the modern Bible are fixed. If you compare various versions of the Hebrew Bible (written in Hebrew), you will find that every version uses exactly the same words. The Dead Sea Scrolls are not like that. If you compare different copies of the same scroll, you will find various differences, some minor (such as whether the conjunction "and" is present), but some differences are so significant that they change the entire passage.
