This series has been hailed by critics as "The Contemporary World's Classic of Juvenile Humor." The author wrote this book at the age of only 12. It tells the story that takes place between McDonald's Boys' School in Canada and the girls' school across the street—Scullin McGee Girls' School. Bruno and Butz are the protagonists of the book. They go through a series of hilarious adventures, such as rescuing a child hanging from a tree, saving their own school, raising funds to build a swimming pool for the school, and driving away the teacher deeply disliked by students and teachers. They scheme to get rid of their roommate, make a pair of unpleasant couple get married, and cause many things that make the girls' school principal furious. The book is humorous, lively, and entertaining, combining artistry and fun. The McDonald's Boys' School swimming team lost to their rivals, York School, in a competition because they didn't have their own swimming pool. Bruno, in anger, turned York's swimming pool into a pot of boiling water using "fizz powder." However, this familiar destructive jealousy doesn't solve the problem, so Bruno and Butz start a fundraising committee. To raise the 25,000 yuan needed to build the swimming pool, they go through all sorts of hardships and cause all kinds of laughter. In the end, along with the full donations from their natural allies—the girls from the girls' school—the total amount they collected is only 7,500 yuan. Strangely enough, the money Bruno and Butz later give to the principal "Fish" is over 30,000 yuan; at the same time, the greedy George, who is disliked by everyone, suddenly becomes a hero admired by all.
