Features: Calibration is the essence of management. To reach the destination, focusing solely on the guiding star is not enough; all internal processes, reward systems, and driving forces must be aligned as one. This book may not unlock the mysteries of the stars, but it can help you overcome the obstacles to your company's success. As advocates of the concept of calibration, the authors have developed this unique perspective through collaboration with world-class companies. In summary, calibration involves structuring the five key elements of a company—employees, processes, customers, business strategy, and leadership—to achieve breakthrough performance. The book is filled with business war stories and firsthand insights from industry leaders. It provides a clear framework that coordinates the key elements of creating and sustaining business success; offers self-assessment tools and comparative metrics to evaluate an organization's critical capabilities; enables managers to cultivate a workforce whose activities are closely aligned with the company's goals and strategy; helps a company determine when and where it has deviated from a calibrated state, and identifies common company ailments such as "going it alone," "much ado about nothing," "phantom limb syndrome," "words and actions not in sync," "market myopia," and "the road to nowhere"; and proposes concrete steps to bring the company back on track, fostering a shared understanding of its goals among employees and using that understanding to drive their work.
