Author: He Di Zhu
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2002-09-01
Features: The story revolves around Wei Zhuang, who has lost both her parents. She lives alone with her daughter and is separated from her husband, Wu Banjiang. When her daughter, Wu Xiaoman, falls ill, Wei Zhuang is overwhelmed by caring for her. After enduring the illness for several days, she becomes exhausted and seeks help from her classmate Liu Shengshi. They begin an extramarital affair from then on.
Wei Zhuang's classmate, Jiang Xin, is intelligent, beautiful, and (dare to explore), embodying the elegance of a lady of noble birth. However, she experiences sexual dissatisfaction with her husband, Yang Yifan. During a job recruitment, Jiang Xin brings Xiao Qiao—her husband's third party in their family life. Faced with this turn of events, jobless and still harboring love for her husband, Jiang Xin chooses to forgive Yang Yifan. But she is deeply upset.
Yang Yifan's drunkard remark pushes Jiang Xin's frustration to its peak. Unable to endure the hurt Yang Yifan inflicts, she decides to file for divorce. This story addresses a growing social issue and serves as a nearly brutal lesson on marriage. It is undeniable that on the day of the wedding, everyone wishes for (eternity). But what changes the original intention of love? Is it the numbness of long-term marital life or sexual disharmony? Selfishness and the pursuit of immediate gratification? Superficial suspicion, distrust, or the laziness of avoiding communication? Though the reasons for divorce are laid out before us, I still cannot escape my confusion.
Is it really worth leaving for such trivial reasons? What drives us to betray our vows of love? Where did we go wrong? I cannot provide answers to these questions, only my confusion—confusion about marriage. I dedicate this book to all women who are divorced or about to get divorced.
