Features: The book opens up the inner world of students from six high school sophomore classes. When Lin Fengmian served as the president of the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, he once told the students, "How can painting be touching? Only when it takes your bleeding heart can it be touching." Our students have put their hearts into it. When I finished compiling their art collection, I was deeply moved by their sincere emotions. They need to express their true feelings, sharing their views on reality, opinions on education, and attitudes toward life. This expression seems to be a long-repressed volcano finally erupting. The expansion of inner space is the spiritual freedom gained by balancing the contradictions and conflicts between the self and reality, thereby relieving psychological pressure. Removing the masks reveals the authentic inner world of each teenager.
This is a thematic sample survey of art assignments by high school students in Beijing. Inspired by the Western concept of lifelong education for students, modern ink painter and art teacher Mr. Zhang Jin chose the title "Myself and the Mask" to reflect the current feelings of high school students toward society, life, education, and their personal experiences. Through a combination of images and text, the book vividly portrays these emotions, allowing us not only to clearly see the specific and authentic state of contemporary high school students but also to understand the gap between their ideal lives and reality. At the same time, as a "realist psychological archive of high school students," it offers society an opportunity to understand their true emotions and inner worlds.
