Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2005-04-01
Features: Lenin made significant contributions to the defense and development of Marxist philosophy—dialectical materialism and historical materialism. "Materialism and Empirio-Criticism" and "Philosophical Notes" are representative works that reflect his fruitful achievements in the field of philosophy. These two works have been enshrined as philosophical classics in the history of Marxist philosophy. However, Lenin's philosophical works are not limited to these two monographs. His philosophical thought runs through his entire theoretical and revolutionary practice. In his formulation of party programs and struggle strategies, in his scientific analysis of various socio-political and economic issues, in his elaboration of major theoretical problems, and in his critique of various erroneous trends, the brilliance of historical materialism and dialectical materialism shines through. Therefore, to study Lenin's philosophical thought and evaluate his academic contributions, it is not only necessary to study his philosophical monographs but also to explore the philosophical ideas in his other works. To facilitate readers' comprehensive and systematic understanding and study of Lenin's philosophical thought, we have compiled this collection of his writings on direct engagement with philosophical issues, excluding his philosophical monographs "Materialism and Empirio-Criticism" and "Philosophical Notes." As for his works that analyze various problems using historical materialism and dialectical materialism, there are numerous examples, but due to space constraints, only several typical chapters are included. This book includes short philosophical essays, excerpts from works, and letters. Its content is difficult to be summarized with a single fitting title, so we have named it "Lenin's Short Philosophical Works" to distinguish it from his philosophical monographs.
