The Three Musketeers is written by Alexandre Dumas, a world-renowned literary giant, who dominates the field of popular historical novels. This book is one of his most famous representative works. The story is set against the backdrop of the conflict between King Louis XIII of France and Cardinal Richelieu, the chief minister who wielded immense military power and political influence. The book tells an interesting story with this background. The protagonist, the young warrior d'Artagnan, becomes a musketeer and forms an inseparable bond with the three musketeers: Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. At that time, the king, queen, and chief minister shared power, each harboring resentment. Just then, the queen is given a diamond pendant as a gift to remember her lover. The cardinal repeatedly spreads slander to the king, urging him to organize a court ball and have the queen wear the diamond pendant to expose the truth. Fortunately, with the help of d'Artagnan, the diamond pendant is quickly recovered, saving the queen from an urgent crisis and foiling the cardinal's schemes.
