Both were written by Tian Hua Cang Zong and were published together as a composite edition during their time. "Yu Jiao Li," also known as "Double Beauty's Miraculous Fate," depicts a love story between the scholar Su Youbai and the beauty Bai Hongyu, and the scholar Lu Mengli, who overcome numerous twists and turns to finally unite. The novel upholds the theme of marital autonomy and the courage to pursue ideal love, exerting a profound influence on later romantic novels. This book was translated into German in 1921 and retitled "Two Cousin Sisters," followed by translations into English, Russian, and French, which had a relatively widespread impact in Europe. "Ping Shan Ling Yan" is a work by Tian Hua Cang Zong that followed "Yu Jiao Li." The novel centers on the talented woman Shan Dai, who is ordered by the emperor to hold a competition to select the best scholars after composing the poem "White Swans." This leads to love stories between Shan Dai and the scholar Yan Baihan, as well as between another pair of talented women, Ling Jiangxue, and the scholar Ping Ruheng. The novel emphasizes the promotion of women's talents and had a significant influence on later novels.
