Features: The full name of Wen Shi Jing is Wen Shi Zhen Jing, also known as Guan Yin Zi or Guan Ling Zi. Like Laozi, Zhuangzi, and Liezi, Guan Yin Zi is named after its author. The author employs the style of the Tao Te Ching, succinctly elucidating the fundamental laws of the universe, nature, society, and life, while critiquing current issues and praising the Great Way. It reveals truth, dispels confusion, and benefits all living beings immensely. The renowned British science thinker, Joseph Needham, extensively quoted viewpoints and conclusions from Guan Yin Zi in his History of Chinese Science and Technology Thought, praising it highly. The book is divided into nine chapters, each with a specific focus. The division into nine chapters is because Taoism emphasizes the yang number, and nine is the ultimate yang number. Laozi's Tao Te Ching is divided into 81 chapters, reflecting the importance of the number nine. Therefore, Guan Yin Zi follows this pattern with nine chapters. We chose Guan Yin Zi as a representative classic of Taoism because it not only breaks theoretical ground but also summarizes practical insights. It offers both macro-level discussions and micro-level insights. With the annotations by Niu Daochun, it helps people better understand the fundamental laws of the universe and life, and practice according to these laws, thereby aligning with the Great Way, following nature, and achieving freedom.
