Features: Li Keran, male, born in 1907, from Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. Professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 1923, he entered the Shanghai Art School of Fine Arts and graduated two years later, returning to his hometown to teach art in primary schools. In 1929, he was admitted as a graduate student at the West Lake National Art Academy and joined the progressive art group "Art Society of the 18th Art." In 1932, due to the dissolution of the "Art Society of the 18th Art" by the Nationalist authorities, he was forced to withdraw from school and return to his hometown, where he taught art at the Xuzhou Art College. In 1938, he joined the Third Department of the Political Department in Wuhan and engaged in anti-war propaganda. In 1943, he became a lecturer at the National Art College in Chongqing. In 1946, he became an associate professor at the National Beijing Art College and at the same time became a disciple of Qi Baishi and Huang Binhong. From 1956 onwards, he successively served as an associate professor and professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 1981, he became the president of the China Painting Research Institute. He was elected as a council member of the first and second sessions of the China Artists Association, as the vice president of the third and fourth sessions, as the honorary president of the Beijing Landscape Painting Research Association, as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and as a member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. In the 1950s, he held landscape sketch exhibitions in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin, and Xi'an, and visited Germany and the Czech Republic. In 1986, he held a large-scale personal art exhibition at the National Art Museum of China. That same year, the German Academy of Arts awarded him the title of "Academician of Art Correspondence." He passed away in 1989. He has published works such as "Li Keran Paintings," "Li Keran Landscape Sketch Paintings," and has written "Li Keran on Painting Theory."
