Features: This series of books is published by Chongqing Publishing House. The editors are women from three different countries. Mei Ye, a US-born Chinese, holds a Bachelor's degree in Law from Fudan University in China and a Master's degree in Management from the University of North Carolina in the US. She is currently a consultant for McKinsey & Company in management consulting. Pan Lan, a Chinese from New Zealand, has worked in education in China for many years and has a deep understanding of aesthetics and art education. She has traveled extensively in Europe and America and has a profound insight into the differences in quality education and artistic environments experienced by Chinese and foreign children during their growth. Lu Hua, a literature graduate, has worked as an editor in China's mainstream media, and her writing and editing works have won national awards multiple times. Whether as professional women in the education industry or as mothers, the three women deeply hope that children can learn more about the truth, goodness, and beauty from art, shaping a life of truth, goodness, and beauty through artistic cultivation. When compiling this series, they selected 99 famous paintings of different styles and schools, dividing them into nine books based on the themes of the paintings. Next to each painting, interactive sections have been designed.
"They Look at Famous Paintings" presents the emotions of children from different countries after viewing the paintings, expressed in their unique understanding and language. Their imaginative ideas can either be amusing or awe-inspiring. "I Look at Famous Paintings" provides space for young readers to express their emotions after viewing the paintings. "Knowledge in Paintings" and "Stories in Paintings" compile knowledge and stories related to the famous paintings. "Play While Viewing" offers brain-teasing games. "Look at Famous Paintings and Paint Your Own" encourages children to interact directly with the masters, approaching famous paintings with a relaxed mindset and an equal perspective from a young age. By expressing their thoughts through hands-on activities, children are encouraged to break free from any constraints—the more novel and creative, the better, as this aligns with the goals of art education.
To meet the needs of bilingual learning, the text in the books is presented in both Chinese and English, making them suitable for children who are just beginning to learn English. Experts believe that world-famous paintings, like famous musical compositions and literary works, are all shining treasures of human spiritual wealth. The brushstrokes of these paintings reflect the understanding of the essence of truth, goodness, and beauty by artists from different eras. Each painting is a condensation of the essence of its time, embodying the cultural spirit of individuals, nations, ethnic groups, and eras. Therefore, allowing children to immerse themselves in famous paintings and experience the world through them, feeling the breath of the masters and receiving artistic and humanistic, lays a solid foundation for their future growth into harmonious, healthy, and life-loving individuals.
