"Characters in Peanuts explore the absurdity of human existence with a spiritual interpretation. In their thought bubbles, they seem to realize that the most sacred gift of humanity is humor." — Rita Johnson, Author of The Story of Charles M. Schulz
I don’t know why we’re here. I feel life is full of anxiety, fear, and tears. There’s too much sadness in life, and it’s also very cruel. I don’t want to be the one to tell people what life is. To me, life itself is a mystery. — Charles M. Schulz
Fluffy and self-important Frieda can’t forget showing off her naturally curly hair or causing trouble for everyone around her. To Charlie Brown, she’s his rival in baseball, and every game she’s in seems doomed to fail. She forbids Charlie Brown from damaging the cute dandelions growing on pitcher’s mound, leaving the pitcher unable to play his best, and the entire season’s games are ruined. Another game is about to start, but Frieda pulls all the girls away because she thinks attending a tea party is more important. To Snoopy, Frieda is the epitome of being picky and demanding. Her stance is firm—"Dogs are dogs!" For this, she constantly forces Snoopy to do what "dogs should do—chase rabbits." Listening to her questions like "What have you contributed to the progress of civilization?" or her scolding "You can only eat and sleep, nothing else," Snoopy can only kindly mutter to himself, "She doesn’t understand, and that’s not her fault."
Snoopy was supposed to return to his birthplace to give a speech—the dog farm where he lived during his puppyhood had invited him. Snoopy studied the works of great speakers like Socrates and Cicero and prepared carefully. But on the way, an unwelcome and persistent worry suddenly struck him—"What if some cats suddenly run out of the audience and bite me?" Snoopy chickened out at the last minute. Feeling too ashamed to face Charlie Brown and his friends, he climbed a tree to hide. But a fierce autumn wind blew all the leaves off, leaving Snoopy with nowhere to hide. He had no choice but to go home.
