Logic (Volume 2)

Author: (German) Hegel
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-05-01
Features: The Chinese translation includes only the excerpts from Lenin's "Summary of Hegel's 'Science of Logic'" as cited by Lenin, with corresponding page numbers from Volume 38 of the Collected Works of Lenin marked for easy reference. Additionally, to facilitate readers in verifying the German original text of the Michler edition referenced by Lenin, this book provides page numbers from the Michler edition on each page. A comparative table of page numbers between the Michler and Laschen editions is also compiled and appended at the end of each volume. Hegel's Science of Logic, commonly referred to as the "Great Logic" to distinguish it from the "Small Logic" (a part of the Encyclopedia of Philosophy), is divided into three parts: "On Being," "On Essence," and "On Concept." The first two parts, collectively known as "Objective Logic," were published in 1812 and 1813, respectively, while the third part, "Subjective Logic," was published in 1816. After the publication of all three parts, Hegel revised the work but only completed the revision of the "On Being" part. There are three complete editions of Hegel's works: the Michler edition, the Glockner edition, and the Laschen edition. The Chinese translation follows the editorial format of the Laschen edition, with "On Being" as the first volume and "On Essence" and "On Concept" as the second volume. The translation primarily relies on the Laschen edition and also references the Glockner edition.
