Features: This book, New Sound Rhyme Selection of Chinese Poetry, uses the 2000 revised edition of Xinhua Dictionary as the basis for standard pronunciation and meaning, and references Modern Rhyme, New Rhyme Collection, and other works. It is divided into 18 rhymes. Following the format of Sound Rhyme Enlightenment and Ling Guan's Rhyme, it arranges couplets by rhyme, with each section containing 10 couplets and 8 Ping tone rhyme endings. The entire book consists of 254 sections, with 2032 Ping tone rhyme endings, none of which are repeated. It can be said that common Ping tone characters in each rhyme are mostly used for rhyming. In terms of scale, it surpasses Sound Rhyme Enlightenment and Ling Guan's Rhyme.
The author, with keen insight and extensive research, has selected a vast number of excellent couplets and rhyming lines from ancient and modern poetry that conform to the new sound rhyme system. With his profound literary expertise, deep understanding of phonology, extensive historical knowledge, and skillful creativity in combining and weaving words, he has compiled 254 couplets divided into 18 rhymes. Each section includes 10 couplets, ranging from one to eleven characters in length. While he may not claim every word is a gem, there are certainly few flaws. Adding to the complete set of couplets and simple yet detailed annotations, the book contains over one million words, several times the length of both Ling Guan's Rhyme and Sound Rhyme Enlightenment (each with 90 couplets). In the history of Chinese phonology, it may not be the last of its kind, but it can be called a groundbreaking work unprecedented in antiquity.
