Features: Most popular management and leadership books in the market offer solutions from the perspective of entrepreneurs or senior management. However, as the saying goes, "a hundred-story building starts from the ground," and as a professional manager, unless you have a special connection with your boss, it's difficult to rise to the top overnight. In the workplace, elites abound, and how to stand out in the vast sea of careers without losing yourself is an unavoidable question for anyone aspiring to become a senior manager. I wrote this book by combining the lessons and successes of professionals and professional managers in reality, standing from the perspective of employees, and proposing solutions for ordinary employees and professional managers to expand their influence, power, and career advancement. This book is neither like those pseudo-inspirational books that portray the company as a poetic paradise and blame all mistakes on employees, nor like those that view the workplace as a Roman colosseum, depicting the company as a treacherous, deceitful, and bloody struggle for power. In my opinion, the workplace is a complex reality that exists simultaneously with light, darkness, and gray areas—a colorful stage that is both filled with the radiance of human nature and plagued by its darker aspects. Here, both naive romantics and cynical cynics can survive, but they cannot achieve satisfying treatment or positions, let alone rise from employee to CEO. What I advocate is a healthy, idealistic yet realistic path to survival, growth, and reaching the pinnacle of the career. This book tells a career art that maintains ideals and principles while navigating the realities of the workplace. Its content will prove that even if the workplace is truly a hell, we can build our own little paradise of light within it. If your purpose in reading this book is to find ready-made answers or techniques for a current career challenge, then you are the one described in the idiom "marking the boat while drawing the sword." Books teaching specific techniques are already countless, but real-world difficulties seem to have no corresponding solutions in any single book. When people in the workplace face certain dilemmas, it's often not due to a single cause. Even to solve the smallest problem, a combination of multiple concepts and methods is needed. Moreover, what this book discusses is the path to expanding influence, power, and career advancement in the workplace. Only those who read the entire book and integrate its principles with their own characteristics can avoid career traps, break through bottlenecks, and smoothly reach the shore of success. Is there a shortcut to career success? Yes, and no. To win in this career marathon, you only need to do two things—avoid detours and move faster than others on the same path. Standing from the perspective of employees and based on these two foundations, this book explains step by step the concepts, mindsets, ways of thinking, methods of doing things, and interpersonal skills for building career influence, power, and advancement. I believe that the "way" (Dao) in the workplace is more important than the "technique" (Shu). In the workplace, establishing the right mindset, perspective, and way of thinking is more important than painstakingly learning any specific skill. Just as a master salesman deeply understands the principles of selling, remaining adaptable while staying true to the core, a novice who doesn't understand the principles but memorizes 108 selling tricks may be theoretically proficient but unable to apply them flexibly in practice. From a novice in career art to a master, there is a process, and this book aims to help readers understand not only "what" but also "why," thereby avoiding detours and accelerating this process of growth. Of course, this doesn't mean this book is just a theoretical work with no practical value. In fact, all the techniques (Shu) of the workplace are embedded in the explanation of the "way" (Dao). I believe that while reading this book, you will sometimes smile, feeling a deep connection; sometimes sigh, wishing you had read it earlier; sometimes be startled, realizing you are making fatal career mistakes mentioned in the book; and sometimes be delighted, discovering career treasures. I can guarantee that if you read, think, and practice seriously, you will definitely open up a new world in your career. And when you reread it after some time, bringing your own experiences, you will gain new insights. If one day you understand that "the way is the technique, and the technique is the way," you may realize why God only needed to say "let there be light" for the world to brighten. This book is a genuine career diary written by a professional manager after years of workplace experience, based on the real lessons and successes of professionals and professional managers. It not only discusses the "way" and "technique" of the workplace but also contains rich life philosophies, helping you quickly establish the right mindset, perspective, and way of thinking to achieve success in your career. Through vivid, humorous, and sharp language, the author addresses one after another of those career challenges you deeply feel yet find confusing, leaving you with a sense of enlightenment after reading. This book presents practical solutions for ordinary employees and managers to expand their influence, power, and career advancement. By reading, thinking, and practicing seriously, it can not only help ordinary employees stand out in the workplace, avoid detours, and smoothly advance to junior and middle management positions but also provide valuable insights for those already in mid-to-senior management positions. This book is suitable for career professionals with the following needs:
- Those who have successfully entered the workplace and want to stand out.
- Those who are confused in the workplace and feel frustrated.
- Those who want to avoid detours and career traps.
- Those who want to break through career bottlenecks and achieve steady advancement.
- Those who have secured high positions and aim to reach the peak of their careers.
