Economics Tutorial (Second Edition)

Author: Kan Hong et al.
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-03-01
Features: Since the publication of the Economics Textbook in 2000, it has been well-received by a broad readership. This year, based on the summary of recent years' teaching experience and the incorporation of new research findings, we have revised and published the Economics Textbook (Second Edition). The second edition retains the structure, main content, and features of the previous version, drawing inspiration from the common structure of economics textbooks in Western countries. It introduces the fundamental principles of economics, aiming to provide readers with a relatively comprehensive understanding of the theoretical framework and various aspects of the subject in a shorter period. It is particularly suitable for introductory economics courses for non-economics majors at universities and colleges.
In terms of content, the book is divided into two main parts: microeconomics and macroeconomics. In the microeconomics section, the book begins with the rational allocation of scarce resources, leading to the discussion of market mechanisms. Based on the core theory of price determination, it analyzes consumer behavior, producer behavior, market structure, and the determination of factor prices, thereby demonstrating how social resources can be allocated more rationally. At the same time, it also explains the inherent flaws of market mechanisms.
In the macroeconomics section, the book centers on Keynesian theory, focusing on the conditions for achieving equilibrium in national income. It also addresses common issues in overall economic operations, providing explanations on unemployment and inflation, business cycles and economic growth, and various measures of government intervention in the economy. The book consists of fifteen chapters, including: Chapter 1: Overview of Economics; Chapter 2: Theory of Demand and Supply; Chapter 3: Elasticity Theory; Chapter 4: Consumer Behavior Theory; Chapter 5: Production Theory; Chapter 6: Cost Theory; Chapter 7: Price Theory; Chapter 8: Demand Determination of Factor Prices; Chapter 9: Supply Determination of Factor Prices; Chapter 10: National Income Accounting; Chapter 11: Theory of National Income Determination; Chapter 12: Unemployment and Inflation; Chapter 13: Theory of Business Cycles; Chapter 14: Theory of Economic Growth; Chapter 15: Macroeconomic Policy.
