Features: The classical Chinese poetry of China is as brilliant as stars and inexhaustible in beauty, always cherished by people. However, classical poetry is often concise in language yet rich in meaning, and heavily uses allusions, making it somewhat difficult for young readers to understand and sparking little interest in them. To enable students to truly comprehend classical poetry, appreciate it, and develop a love for it, improve their appreciation skills, and apply it in writing, we have specially compiled a student edition of Three Hundred Poems of Tang. We have selected the most representative works of the most renowned poets from the Tang and Song dynasties, fully considering the learning needs of students. The book features enhanced annotations and commentaries on the poems, while also presenting a more attractive and approachable format. Specifically, it has the following characteristics:
First, it includes bilingual color illustrations, making the format more lively and novel. Based on the artistic conception of each poem, we have paired exquisite traditional Chinese paintings with the poems and used a bilingual printing method. The harmony between poetry and painting enhances the reader's appreciation of the poem's imagery and aids in a deeper understanding of the work. This format also appears more approachable and is more easily accepted by young readers.
Second, it provides full annotations to eliminate reading barriers. Classical poetry uses words with extreme precision and is rich in allusions, requiring readers to have a solid understanding of historical and literary knowledge. We have annotated all difficult words and allusions, removing reading barriers. Additionally, we have provided a comprehensive explanation of each poem. These explanations avoid literal translations and instead ensure fluency and elegance while covering all key points of the original text. Reading the explanations themselves can also be a delightful experience.
Third, the commentaries are concise and help deepen understanding. For each poem, the focus of the commentary varies: some highlight the author's exceptional writing techniques, others help readers appreciate the poem's artistic conception, and others point out the background of the poem to help readers understand the author's emotions. The commentaries are succinct and easy to understand, making them suitable for young readers.
Fourth, famous lines are highlighted for easy memorization. For widely quoted lines in the poems, we have marked them with prominent color bars for easy identification, facilitating memorization. If readers focus on mastering these lines, they can significantly improve their literary style and language and writing skills, achieving twice the result with half the effort.
This book is an ideal extracurricular reading material for primary, secondary, and university students, as well as a valuable resource for enthusiasts of classical poetry. It helps them absorb rich knowledge, enhance their appreciation of literature, and cultivate their character.
